Lake County is fortunate to have a rich, diverse literary community of writers from all backgrounds and experience, genres and styles; from poetry to fiction, non-fiction to memoir. While COVID-19 has put an unfortunate hold on in-person gatherings and events, we aim to continue the momentum by offering and sharing virtual writing events!

The Virtual Writers’ Circle continues meeting on Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:30 pm PT. All writing genres and levels of experience welcome. New writers encouraged. See the Writers’ Circle page for Zoom info.

An exciting new poetry project has come to Lake County. Thanks to resident Gary Meas and the Kelseyville Business Association, Kelseyville now has poetry boxes in town! Check them out on Main Street where new poems are on display every week. There are also new boxes at the Middletown Art Center, the Clear Lake Campgrounds, and the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce. Email Gary at to offer comments, suggestions, or to submit poems. Read more about this project HERE.

Current Lake County Poet Laureate Georgina Marie has partnered with The Bloom as their Poet in Residence where poetry is published weekly, poetry contests are offered quarterly, and a monthly poetry podcast is aired. See submission guidelines to submit your original work for publication. Visit Georgina’s website to see contest details and other upcoming events:

You can also stay up to date on virtual poetry and writing events, share your work, etc. by joining the Lake County Poet Laureate Facebook group!
