Our new member for March is actually two new members.
Melanie and Mark have always had an appreciation for art, but their busy work lives distracted them from it.
In November, Cherie at Watershed Books on Main Street told them about the First Friday Fling that was held at our Main Street Gallery. Local art on display, live music, and finger food, all while meeting a bunch of fun people.
At the Fling, they met Richard Seisser and he invited them to look into the many, and varied, art classes that are held in our Gallery.
Melanie got into painting in the late 80's by taking oil painting classes in the Bay area. These soon developed into a small business in the next decade when she focused her attention on painting landscapes on wood cutout shapes, saw blades, antique milk cans, etc. Melanie tells us, "My first day in the Gallery class was like finding an old friend, and the conversation started right up again."
Mark says that he has always enjoyed art. He wanted to draw and paint, but found it difficult to sit still long enough to produce anything, so he focused his creativity on playing his guitar. Mark says that he is learning a lot from his classes and is excited to see his skills improve with each painting.
