I recently read a quote from the Barr Foundation that I
thought spoke very well to why
LCAC feels that it is important for us to engage in the arts and culture:
and Cultural organizations are vital contributors to the region’s economic, civic and
educational fabric. They create jobs, stimulate dialogue and improve quality of Life.
In addition, robust inclusion of the arts increases students’ success, reduces dropout rates, and develops California’s future innovators. Cultural initiatives and community arts investments also boost our economy, playing a vital role in ensuring our state’s economic health and quality of life.
LCAC’s Soper Reese Theatre and the Main Street Gallery are leaders in promoting the arts and culture in Lake County. By sponsoring Poetry Out Loud, the Summer Youth Art Camp, Art in the Afternoon, and offering the Jillian Billister scholarships to youth actively involved in the arts and culture and are engaged in community activities, LCAC is having a positive influence in the lives of our fellow Lake County residents.
March will be a busy month as we prepare for Spring Dance Festival on April 1st and 2nd. Auditions have been held, and we anticipate a show with a variety of acts from ballet and point, to tap and rap, and much more. So mark your calendars and come and see Can’t Stop Dancin' !
Whether we know it or not, each of us participates in the arts every day. Special thanks to all of our volunteers. You are the life blood of this organization and continue to move us forward.
In gratitude to all,
