Art in Public Places

Art in Public Places offers both professional and non-professional artists an opportunity display and sell their art in various public buildings of Lake County.

This program is sponsored by the Lake County Arts Council's Main Street Gallery in Lakeport, California.

All artists are invited to submit their art to be displayed. Although not a requirement, artists are encouraged to become a member of LCAC.

Art Mediums

Art work may include oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, photographs, colored pencil, pen & ink, and mixed media. Work can be original or prints of the artist's original work.

Submission Requirements

All art must be for sale.

All artists are required to complete a Registration and Hold Harmless Agreement for the Art in Public Places form.

The Committee reserves the right to approve or decline submitted art.

Display Requirements

Work must be framed and prepared in a professional manner for hanging with screw-eyes and picture wire securely attached to the work. Saw-tooth or flimsy apparatus pieces will not be accepted.

Each piece of art submitted must have a card attached to it identifying the artists name, title, medium and price. Artwork shall be hung at the discretion of the committee. Artists are not allowed to remove their work during the exhibition without prior approval of the Committee. Telephone: (707) 263-6658.

Hang and Retrieval Dates for Future Shows

  • September 21, 2016 to January 19, 2017
  • January 19,2017 to May 18, 2017
  • May 18, 2017 to October 19, 2017

Commissions & Fees

  • Reimbursement checks to artists for sales will be issued at the beginning of each month.
  • A commission of 20% of the sales price of each piece sold will be charged for member artists.
  • A commission of 30% of the sales price of each piece sold will be charged for non-members artists.
  • A hanging fee of $2 for each piece submitted.
  • Handling and storage fee of $2 for each piece of unclaimed work at the conclusion of the exhibit period.
