Connecting the Arts to the Community.
The Council was founded in 1981 in an effort to acknowledge, celebrate and involve the community in the arts as an enriching component of our daily lives.
The Lake County Arts Council is a not-for-profit volunteer organization. A member of California Arts Council that is the officially recognized arts organization to the State and Local Partnership Program. The Council is open to all individuals and is culturally diverse in our practices and policies.
The purpose of our organization is to encourage and develop the arts and cultural activities in Lake County by coordinating, developing, sponsoring, and providing assistance in all artistic and cultural endeavors.
Funding and Support
As a non-profit, the Council has many sources of revenue, including membership, grants and gallery rentals, fund-raising events, a percentage of gallery sales, and theater rentals proceeds and productions.
Many thanks to donors who make it possible to keep the doors open at the Soper Reese Theatre and the Main Street Gallery. Grants from city, county and federal programs provide for the renovation of the theater. More importantly, it is the individual contributions of time, labor, and donations that ultimately show strong support for our endeavors.
You, too, can be a part of connecting the arts to the community. Please join us. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization.
